Treating Skin Laxity Beyond the Face: What’s New at LUUM

When we talk about skin quality and ageing, the conversation often focuses on the face. But changes in skin firmness, texture and elasticity can happen across the body too.

At LUUM, we’re excited to introduce a new treatment option for clients concerned about skin laxity and skin quality beyond the face.

A product we already use regularly in clinic has recently been approved for on-label use in several areas of the body, giving us another way to create personalised treatment plans for concerns including laxity, crepey skin and cellulite.

Where can skin laxity be treated?

The newly approved treatment areas include:

  • Décolletage

  • Upper arms

  • Buttocks

  • Backs of the thighs, including areas affected by cellulite

These are areas where changes in skin quality can become more noticeable with age, hormonal changes or following weight loss.

The upper arms, for example, are a common concern for women experiencing changes during perimenopause and menopause, when skin can begin to feel thinner or less firm.

Why body skin needs a different approach

There isn’t one treatment that suits every area of the body or every skin concern.

At LUUM, we already use a range of technologies to treat body skin, including BBL, laser treatments and radiofrequency skin needling.

The right approach depends on what we’re treating.

Pigmentation and sun damage on the décolletage may require a very different treatment plan to skin laxity on the upper arms or cellulite on the thighs.

In some cases, we may recommend a combination of treatments to address different elements of skin health and quality.

Treating skin quality, not chasing perfection

Body treatments aren’t about creating “perfect” skin.

They’re about supporting the quality, firmness and appearance of your skin in areas that may have changed with age, hormones, sun exposure or weight fluctuations.

A consultation allows us to assess your skin and determine which treatment - or combination of treatments - is most appropriate for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes loose or crepey skin on the upper arms?

Skin can become thinner and less firm as collagen and elastin change with age. Weight loss, sun exposure and hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can also contribute to changes in skin laxity.

Can you treat skin laxity without surgery?

There are non-surgical treatments designed to improve the appearance and quality of lax skin. The most appropriate option will depend on the degree of laxity, treatment area and your individual skin.

What areas of the body can LUUM treat?

Depending on your concern, LUUM can develop treatment plans for areas including the décolletage, upper arms, buttocks and thighs.

Can you treat cellulite on the backs of the legs?

Yes, certain treatments can be used to improve the appearance and quality of skin affected by cellulite. A consultation is recommended to determine whether the treatment is appropriate for your individual concern.

What is the best treatment for body skin laxity?

There is no single best treatment for everyone. LUUM uses a range of modalities, including laser, BBL, radiofrequency skin needling and injectable treatments. Your practitioner can recommend an approach based on your skin, concerns and goals.
