Why we love Dermapen 4 Skin Needling
Skin needling is a cosmetic procedure that involves puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles to stimulate the body's natural healing response. At Lúum Aesthetics, we use the highly advanced Dermapen 4 device during our skin needling treatments in Perth, which provides the ultimate precision throughout your microdermal facial.
The purpose of skin needling is to create controlled injury to the skin, which triggers the production of collagen and elastin fibres. The procedure is minimally invasive and requires little downtime, but may cause mild redness, swelling, and sensitivity to the treated area in the days following the treatment.
Whether you’re targeting micro needling for scars, pigmentation, fine lines, or for an improved complexion, our micro and skin needling treatments are structured to deliver subtle, long‑lasting results. Each session is infused with expert intent and followed by curated aftercare to ensure ongoing radiance.

What are the benefits of regular Skin Needling Treatments?
Boosts Collagen Production - Skin needling stimulates your skin's natural collagen and elastin production, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, for a firmer, more youthful look.
Reduces Scarring - Whether from acne, surgery, or injury, skin needling helps diminish the appearance of scars by promoting new, healthy skin growth.
Improves Skin Texture and Tone - This treatment smooths out uneven skin texture and improves skin tone, giving you a more polished and radiant complexion.
Minimises Pore Size - Skin needling can help reduce the size of enlarged pores, leading to a smoother and more refined skin surface.
Enhances Product Absorption - By creating micro-channels in the skin, skin needling allows for better absorption of skincare products, boosting their effectiveness.

The downtime associated with skin needling is generally minimal, but it can vary depending on the extent and depth of the treatment. In general, the treated area may appear slightly red and swollen for a few hours to a few days after the procedure. Some people may also experience mild bruising or pinpoint bleeding.
Most individuals can return to their normal activities immediately after the treatment, but it is recommended to avoid makeup and other skincare products for at least 24 hours after the procedure to allow the skin to heal. It is also important to avoid sun exposure and to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to protect the treated area from further damage.
It is important to note that the recovery time can vary from person to person, and some individuals may experience more significant side effects, such as prolonged redness or swelling. Your healthcare provider will give you specific instructions on how to care for your skin after the procedure and what to expect in terms of downtime and recovery.

Like any medical or cosmetic procedure, skin needling does carry some risks and potential side effects, although they are generally mild and temporary. Some of the most common risks and side effects associated with skin needling include:
• Redness and swelling: The skin may appear red and slightly swollen for a few hours to a few days after the procedure.
• Bruising and pinpoint bleeding: Some individuals may experience mild bruising or pinpoint bleeding at the treatment site.
• Infection: There is a risk of infection if the needles used during the procedure are not properly sterilized.
• Allergic reactions: Some people may develop an allergic reaction to the topical products used during the procedure.
• Hyperpigmentation: In rare cases, skin needling can cause areas of the skin to darken (hyperpigmentation) or lighten (hypopigmentation).
• Scarring: Although rare, there is a risk of scarring if the procedure is performed incorrectly or the skin is not properly cared for after the treatment.
It is important to discuss the risks and potential side effects of skin needling with your healthcare provider before undergoing the procedure. Your healthcare provider can help you determine if skin needling is a safe and appropriate treatment option for you based on your individual health history and skin type. -

Micro needling uses a motorised pen with sterile needles to create micro‑injuries in the dermis, triggering collagen and elastin production. A micro dermal facial incorporates this with targeted serums or ampoules applied during needling to boost absorption and address specific concerns more deeply.
